Programs

Please check back. We will continue to add information about our programs to this section of the Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Web site.

Dues Subsidy

Our dues subsidy program addresses pressing local needs for health care and coverage by reaching beyond public programs to the many uninsured adults and children who are ineligible for any other kind of assistance. In what may very well be a unique program in many of the communities we serve, we cover the cost of health insurance for low-income and uninsured people.

While our programs vary from region to region, subsidized coverage may include subsidized Kaiser Permanente coverage for unemployed workers retraining for new professions, children whose family income or immigration status makes them ineligible for state programs, and poor men ineligible for any public programs. Because demand is high, some programs may be at capacity.

Farmers Markets

Our Farmers’ Markets are a rapidly expanding addition to our community health agenda. The need to create and support healthy nutrition environments has taken on added urgency with our nation facing a health crisis of epidemic proportions – obesity is rapidly becoming one of our most critical health issues.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are critical to good nutrition and health, but they’re are not readily available in every neighborhood. Our Farmers’ Markets make certain that high quality, reasonably price fruits and vegetables are available in many of the communities we serve.

If you’d like to learn about how to develop a farmers’ market, our Farmers’ Market Resource Guide will tell you more. Check with your local Kaiser Permanente facility to see if a Farmers’ Market is available in your community.
