Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States Rebuilding Lives After Katrina

(Washington, DC) – Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States region donated $25,000 to the local NBC4 Hurricane Katrina Fundraiser: Rebuilding Lives. Over $478,000 was raised during the telethon to benefit the National Capital Chapters of the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army. Hosted by Tim Russert from Meet the Press and local news anchors Jim Vance and Doreen Gentzler, the telethon was a commercial-free hour on the Washington, DC NBC affiliate taking place on Monday, September 12, 2005 from 7:00pm-8:00pm.

Kaiser Permanente physicians dispatched to care for evacuees

Team will provide medical care at Houston health centers; evacuees also offered Kaiser Permanente care in Northern California

OAKLAND, Calif.– A team of Kaiser Permanente physicians left California today (Sept. 12) to provide medical and public health services to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

“As the nation’s largest medical group and as an organization with a 50-year history of coming to the assistance of those in need, we are committed to helping people affected by this disaster,” Dr. Robert Pearl, CEO and executive director of The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) said. “Hundreds of our physicians and employees have volunteered for this service. We are pleased to be able to respond to this request from the federal government.”

Kaiser Permanente Pledges Total of $3 million to Hurricane Relief

First $2 million pledged to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Foundation to fund public health efforts in Gulf Coast

Oakland, Calif., September 2, 2005 – Kaiser Permanente today announced a pledge of $3 million to fund hurricane relief efforts in the stricken Gulf Coast region. The first $2 million from Kaiser Permanente will go to launch the CDC Foundation’s Hurricane Katrina financial response efforts in its drive to support public health department assistance in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Kaiser Permanente Contributes $2 Million to Support Public Health Response to Katrina

The CDC Foundation Seeks Donations to Help CDC and Public Health Partners Purchase Critical Supplies and Equipment

ATLANTA – The CDC Foundation today announced a $2 million gift from Kaiser Permanente to support the national public health response to Hurricane Katrina. The contribution was made to the CDC Foundation’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Fund, which is accepting contributions to enable the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and its state and local partners to obtain equipment, supplies and services that are not readily available or are difficult for government organizations to purchase quickly.
