American Heart Walk

Kaiser Permanente employees team up every year to raise money and awareness through the American Heart Walk. In 2006, employees raised close to $16,000 to fight heart disease and stroke.

AkronReads

For several years, Kaiser Permanente employees have volunteered as reading tutors for students in Akron Public Schools. AkronReads is a partnership of schools, community organizations, business, libraries, parents, and students working together to ensure that Akron's students are reading at grade level.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Volunteerism

Each year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Kaiser Permanente encourages employees and physicians to provide direct service to the community. In 2006, nearly 40 volunteers cleaned and painted day care centers for the Centers for Family and Children. Individuals also donated $215 to New Life Community, an organization that provides temporary housing for families in need.
