Kaiser Permanente Community Giving Campaign Celebrates $1.5M Mark

Congratulations to all Kaiser Permanente Southern California employees and Southern California Permanente Medical Group physicians for making the Kaiser Permanente Community Giving Campaign (KPCGC) a huge success. This year, the KPCGC reached and surpassed the $1.5 million dollar mark—a tremendous feat, particularly given today’s economic climate.

“We commend our SCPMG physicians and KPSC employees,” said Duke Keshishian, KPCGC project manager. “Once again they have proven their caring nature and tremendous generosity by donating funds that will help the less fortunate. These are challenging economic times for everyone, which makes our campaign results even more special.”

Donations from SCPMG physicians totaled $364,176, a huge 9.2 percent increase over the previous year’s campaign. Employee donations totaled $1,150,355, four percent more than the previous year. Several factors contributed to the successful campaign, including:

  • An increase in “Leadership Donors,” who gave either $1,000 or 1 percent of their paycheck. (135 SCPMG physicians and 211 employees are Leadership Donors)
  • A new kpcgc.org Web site that made the giving process easier, more flexible.
  • The payment of all administration fees by KPSC Community Benefit, ensuring that 100 percent of each donation went directly to charity.
  • More physician and staff champions in the areas, who helped share the message of charitable giving.

All KPCGC contributions support valuable services, including the provision of health care; fighting hunger and homelessness; providing scholarships/education; protecting the environment, and more.
