The 2008-09 Community Giving Campaign is Under Way
Annual Community Giving Campaign, Sept. 15-Oct. 31
The 2009 Kaiser Permanente Southern California Community Giving Campaign (KPCGC) will take place September 15 through October 31. The campaign is one of the best ways we can personally help make our communities better places to live and work.
More than 9,000 of our 64,000 physicians and staff participated in the KPSC Community Giving Campaign for 2008. Together, we raised more than $1.4 million to support a wide range of organizations and causes.
Step Up to This Campaign’s Challenge
This year, our goal is to increase the number of contributors by 12,000. You can make your tax-deductible KPCGC contributions through regular payroll deductions or with a one-time contribution (via payroll, credit card, or check).
Or, you can become a Leadership Donor by annually contributing $1,000 or more, or 1 percent of your salary. This year, KP hopes to increase the number of Leadership Donors.
New Community Giving Campaign Site Makes Giving Easier
To make donating easier and more convenient, the best and most direct way is to contribute online at the new kpcgc.org Web site, starting September 15. The Web site also offers timely campaign updates, plus information about where your donations go and how your giving positively affects the communities and people we serve.
KPSC Community Benefit Donates United Way Administration Fees
For the first time ever, KPSC Community Benefit is paying United Way’s 4 percent administration fee for the upcoming campaign. This ensures that 100 percent of your contribution goes to support charitable organizations that provide critical services in our communities, including
- Supplying valuable health services
- Fighting homelessness
- Feeding the hungry
- Improving education
- Providing scholarships
- Strengthening families
- Empowering seniors
- Protecting the environment
Choosing Where Your Contribution Goes
As in the past, you can choose one or more organizations to receive your donation. Campaign donors have many organizations to choose from when making tax-deductible contributions, including
- Any of KPSC’s seven partner federations (Asian Pacific Community Fund, Brotherhood Crusade, Community Health Charities, Earth Share, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, United Way, Women’s Foundation, and Reach Out and Read)
- Any of the federations’ 300 or more member charities; or
- Any other qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization you designate
