Have an Idea?

The ultimate goal of the Garfield Center is to continue to improve the way Kaiser Permanente supports and cares for our members, staff, and physicians. The Center is a working and learning space available for the entire program.

Our Mission

The Sidney R. Garfield Health Care Innovation Center is a simulated care delivery environment for testing new ideas and designs. Here the people of KP, our members, and the communities we serve come together with a common vision to improve the care we deliver by developing and evaluating new technologies, products, clinical care processes, and facility designs. We use the power of teams in a safe, hands-on environment to further the KP culture of innovation.

Facilities and Hours

The Garfield Center has space to simulate clinical environments and areas to prototype and evaluate products, workflows or architectural designs. A medical/surgical unit is mocked up as well as an outpatient clinic, and home environment. The Garfield Center is open Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Fridays.

Activities

To maximize innovation, activities involving a combination of simulations, prototyping, product evaluations, or training using the clinical mock-up and prototyping space are given highest priority.  ACTIVITY EXAMPLES
