Jed Weissberg, MD

  Senior Vice President, Quality and Care Delivery Excellence



Jed Weissberg, MD, is the senior vice president of Quality and Care Delivery Excellence for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan/Hospitals. In this role, Jed partners with The Permanente Medical Groups, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and regional and national leaders to oversee Kaiser Permanente’s national quality agenda, ensuring that members and patients receive high quality care and service. He leads Kaiser Permanente’s national quality and service department and clinical systems support team. Jed has been with Kaiser Permanente for 25 years and previously served as associate executive director, quality and performance improvement.

Jed joined The Permanente Medical Group in Kaiser Permanente's Northern California Region in 1984. He became the physician-in-chief of our Fremont Medical Center in 1994, where he led a staff of 450 full-time employees who cared for a population of 85,000 members. During that time, Jed oversaw the planning and construction of a 106-bed hospital.

Jed also works closely with America's Health Insurance Plans, where he has chaired both the Emerging Technology Subcommittee and the Leadership Council.

After completing college at the University of Pennsylvania, medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and an internal medicine residency at Boston City Hospital, Jed pursued a gastroenterology fellowship at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Following that training, he took another fellowship at the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital in alcoholism and substance abuse to continue his study of liver disease.
