   Family and Friends
Some of your family and friends may choose to accompany you on the day of surgery. The information below may be helpful to them while they are at the medical center.
  • Your relative or friend can get an update on the status of your surgery by asking the receptionist in the surgery waiting area located on the 3rd floor of the hospital in the West Tower or by calling (323) 857-2721.
  • A cafeteria and vending machine area is available in the basement for refreshments and meals.
  • Vending machines are also available in the family waiting room on the 3rd floor of the hospital in the East Tower.
  • A gift shop on the first floor of the hospital in the West Tower is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for snacks and other shopping. The gift shop is closed on weekends and major holidays.
  • The Healthy Living Store on the first floor lobby of the hospital in the East Tower is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for snacks and other shopping.
  • You may want to ask your relative or friend to pick up any prescriptions from the pharmacy before you leave. Your relative or friend can pick up prescriptions for you with your Kaiser Permanente ID card. They will also need to provide their personal identification as well.
  • When you are discharged from the hospital, your relative or friend can pick you up at the main entrance near the 24-Hour Pharmacy.

Visitation Policy
  • For your health and recovery, adult patients must wait at least one hour after surgery to have visitors. After that, you may have one visitor in the recovery room for a few minutes at the discretion of the recovery room nursing staff.
  • Once you are admitted to the hospital, your relatives and friends are welcome to visit with you during visiting hours.
  • Provided that space is available, one visitor may stay overnight with the patient at the discretion of the nursing staff.
