ENDOSCOPIC BROWLIFT
What is an endoscopic browlift?
An endoscopic browlift is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for lifting the brows. The surgery is performed using 5 small incisions in the forehead or on the hairline. Specialized instruments are inserted through these incisions and used to loosen the eyebrow. The surgeon lifts the brow and inserts a temporary anchoring implant to hold the brow in its new position. This anchoring implant will eventually dissolve.

What are the advantages of an endoscopic browlift?
The advantages are smaller scars, less pain, and less numbness and hair loss than traditional browlift surgery that involve longer incisions. A secondary advantage for some patients is that a blepharoplasty to remove excessive skin and fat from the eyelids can be performed simultaneously.
Who should have an endoscopic browlift?
Anyone considering a browlift should discuss this option with their doctor. The minimally invasive method has many advantages over traditional surgery, but each patient must be evaluated individually to determine if they are a good candidate.
What preparations will be needed prior to surgery?
The surgeon may have the patient see a primary care doctor prior to surgery to make sure there are no medical conditions that may cause a problem with the surgery. There will be a pre-op appointment prior to the day of surgery that will include a history and physical examination, possible blood samples, possible EKG, and a visit with a member of anesthesia department. Patients should not eat or drink anything after midnight on the night before surgery.
What type of anesthesia will be required?
For most patients, an endoscopic browlift is performed under local anesthesia.
Is there a hospital stay after surgery?
Most endoscopic browlifts are performed on an outpatient basis. The patient arrives about 2 hours prior to surgery and often leave 1-2 hours after the surgery is finished
What kind of a recovery can be expected?
The average recovery time is approximately one to two weeks. The recovery time is primarily due to bruising and not pain from the surgery.
