As the Director of the Robotic Surgery Program and Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery, Dr. Kirk Tamaddon has particular expertise in the surgical management of prostate and kidney cancer. He has had extensive training in both open, laparoscopic and Robotic Assisted approaches to Genitourinary Surgical procedures. His efforts and interests are focused on advancing cutting edge technologies that improve safety, cancer control with the least amount of blood loss, incisions and quicker recovery.

Dr. Tamaddon pioneered laparoscopic urologic surgeries at Kaiser Permanente, West Los Angeles. He performed the very first purely laparoscopic radical nephrectomy as well as the very first laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. He went on to perform the very first laparoscopic radical prostatectomy at KP West L.A. Dr. Tamaddon's team performed the very first Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

Dr. Tamaddon was raised in Southern California, having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at UCLA, where he was given the highest honor bestowed to any University of California Student (Regents Scholarship). He then attended medical school at The Ohio State University Medical School in Columbus, Ohio. He then returned to Southern California to receive general surgical residency training followed by urological surgical residency training at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles. He spent his last year as the Chief Resident of Urology.

In 2002, he joined Institute Mutualist Montsouris in Paris, France in order to advance his training in Laparoscopy and Minimally Invasive surgical approaches in Urology under the supervision of Dr. Guy Vallancien.

In 2005 Dr. Tamaddon organized and developed the first Minimally Invasive Surgery Group at Kaiser Permanente using a multi-disciplinary , comprehensive team approach to the development of this center.

In 2008 he was appointed as the Director of the Robotic Surgery Program for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

Dr. Tamaddon has presented at multiple national and international Urologic conferences. Dr. Tamaddon is a Diplomate of The American Board of Urology. He is a member of the The Endo-Urological Society.
