When Amit Saini, MD, Chief of Adult Medicine, isn't caring for his patients or handling administrative duties overseeing the Adult Medicine Department, you might find him in the hospital units, rounding on his patients and checking in with their family members.
A hospitalization can be a trying time for a patient and many times, anxiety and worry can be overwhelming.
Dr. Saini says sometimes, all it takes is a familiar face to help reassure patients that he is working with the hospital providers to ensure continuity of care.
"It's an honor that my patients have put their trust in me so I do everything I can to be an advocate for them," Dr. Saini says. "I'm very grateful for Kaiser Permanente's electronic medical record, which alerts me when one of my patients is hospitalized, allowing me to track their progress and care."
It's a practice that doesn't go unnoticed.
"Dr. Saini is one of the most compassionate and caring physicians I've ever encountered," says House Supervisor Megan Tapia, RN. "He always takes time out of his busy shifts to check on patients and their families." "It's easy to see he went into medicine for the right reason," Megan says. "He truly cares about human life."
