When two student athletes at Canada College were injured in weekend games, their coach knew exactly what to do. She called Dr. Srinivas Ganesh, an orthopedist in the Department of Sports Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City.

The athletes – who were Kaiser members – were seen as soon as possible. Thanks to his community outreach to local high schools and colleges, Dr. Ganesh is a familiar name to coaches, trainers, and players with whom he talks about injury treatment and prevention.

An athlete himself, he hopes his commitment to fitness inspires others. “People look at me and they say, you look like someone who exercises, you know what it’s like to be an athlete,” he says. But he also knows what it’s like to be a patient. Early in his medical career, he tore his ACL and had knee surgery.

That experience set his path in sports medicine . Whether his patients are young or old, fit or out of shape, Dr. Ganesh brings his enthusiasm for fitness and deep knowledge of sports medicine to help them get back to the activities they love and chart new paths to wellness.
