“My biggest reward is helping patients during difficult times.”
Hospital Medicine
Fresno
William Geissert, MD, is a highly regarded internist whose career as a Hospitalist and ER consultant for Kaiser Permanente Fresno spans more than 20 years. His favorite quote is from one of his mentors: “If not me, then who? If not now, then when?”
“I’ve been fortunate to have some great role models who have influenced my practice,” says Dr. Geissert, whose skilled and problem-solving approach guides his daily rounds with seriously ill hospitalized patients.
Dr. Geissert evaluates whether patients should be admitted or after they improve, whether they should be sent home for a follow-up with their primary physician. If hospitalized, he works with a team of specialists during the patient’s stay in the hospital.
“The biggest reward is when I am able to help patients and their families during a difficult time,” says Dr. Geissert. “Over a period of a few days, I get to know my patients and communicate with them in-depth about their medical problems.”
“There is a huge range of human experience among the patients I serve,” says Dr. Geissert. “The breadth and depth of my practice is one of the things I like most about being a doctor.”
