Like many in medicine, Dr. Scillian became interested in the field through a childhood experience. His hospitalization at 12 years of age for acute appendicitis, and his personal relationship with the family physician who lived up the street and made house calls, had the biggest influence on his desire to be a physician. Today, as the Chief of Pathology and Director of Laboratory Services in the Central Valley Area, he provides direction and oversight of laboratory and pathology services for many new, widely scattered and rapidly growing Kaiser Permanente facilities. Remembering his own care, he strives to ensure that every patient is treated like a cherished family member. As a physician and a respected leader, he enjoys contributing to a talented, integrated team that works together harmoniously to provide the best quality of medical care for patients.
