Kaiser Permanente Scores Highest for Clinical Quality in California Agency's Health Care Quality Report Card
Kaiser Permanente's California operations scored highest in clinical quality among state health maintenance organizations for the seventh straight year, according to results announced Oct. 18 by the California Office of the Patient Advocate.
The state OPA released Oct. 18 its seventh annual Health Care Quality Report Card, which rates HMOs and medical groups that care for almost half of all Californians. Kaiser Permanente's Northern California and Southern California regions scored highest among HMOs in the state for clinical quality, and were both rated "excellent" for heart care.
In addition, Kaiser Permanente's operations in Marin/Sonoma counties, Santa Clara, South San Francisco, and Santa Teresa (San Jose) received "excellent" ratings for both clinical quality and for patient experience. With one non-Kaiser Permanente entity in Palo Alto, they were the only groups among the 200 to receive top ratings in both areas from the OPA.
