Preston Maring's Farmers' Market and Recipe Update Now Available Online

Dr. Maring, creator of Kaiser Permanente's farmers' markets, has shared his farmers' market updates and recipes mainly through email subscriptions - until now. His periodic recipes and updates now have their own website.

Dr. Maring founded the first Kaiser Permanente farmers' market at Oakland Medical Center in May 2003. Today, 38 Kaiser Permanente facilities offer organic produce markets. Maring recently received a Kellogg Foundation Food in Society Policy Fellowship for his work creating the farmers' markets. The fellowship is designed to help reach a goal of having 10 percent of the food sold in the United States, 10 years from now, be "good food" that is healthy and affordable.

He recently was featured in a KP News Center podcast, and was interviewed last month by ABC Channel 7 in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dr. Maring's new website features recipes dating to 2003, all of which include organic produce found "in season" at farmers' markets. Several links on the website feature information about topics such as sustainable agriculture and aquaculture. It also features an RSS reader that allows users to get updated content immediately after it is published on the website.
