Kaiser Permanente Achieves Climate Action Leader Status in California

Kaiser Permanente is the first health care organization to earn "Climate Action Leader" status from the California Climate Action Registry.

Publicly reporting its greenhouse gas emissions in California is another example of Kaiser Permanente's commitment to the total health of its members and the communities it serves. Trip-reduction programs and energy savings initiatives will help Kaiser Permanente reduce 17 million pounds in carbon dioxide emissions by the end of the year, for example.

California's Legislature created the California Climate Action Registry in 2000 to help companies and organizations in the state publicly report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Third-party organizations certify reports to ensure accuracy. Kaiser Permanente is among 280 major companies, cities, government agencies and non-governmental agencies that measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions through the Registry.
