Kaiser Permanente Opens New Medical Office in Lawrenceville
GEORGIA EXPANSION INITIATIVE
ATLANTA — Kaiser Permanente today held the grand opening of its newest medical office in Lawrenceville. City, county and state representatives attended the event.
Along with its Sugar Hill-Buford and Gwinnett locations, the new medical office (located at 455 Philip Blvd., Suite 130) is Kaiser Permanente’s third location in Gwinnett County. This is the third new Kaiser Permanente medical center to open in the past six months, after East Cobb and Downtown Decatur.
The Lawrenceville location brings to 20 the number of Kaiser Permanente medical facilities in the organization’s 28-county service area, with plans to add as many as four more by the end of 2010. Two of these facilities were recently announced — Northwest Cobb and Holly Springs.
“The new medical office in Lawrenceville will provide more convenience and access to our members,” said Peter Andruszkiewicz, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. “The property is in an ideal location, which enables us to better serve members in this ever-growing city and county.”
The 5,700 square foot Lawrenceville medical office employs 15 health care professionals and includes exam and procedure rooms, a laboratory, a pharmacy and basic radiology services.
The internal medicine physician is Charles Curry, MD; Jamie Griffin, MD is the center’s pediatrician, and Linda Brownlee, MD is the OB/GYN physician at the new medical center. They all are from The Southeast Permanente Medical Group. Additional specialties may be added.
Kaiser Permanente invested about $1.8 million in interior construction, furniture, and medical and IT equipment.
During the grand opening, Kaiser Permanente presented a $10,000 grant to the Lawrenceville Co-Op Ministry, which will help fund access to drugs by seniors as well as access to fresh foods and vegetables in local farmers markets.
In addition, the organization presented a $50,000 check to Partnership Gwinnett, the community and economic development initiative led by the Gwinnett Chamber, in support of its nationally-recognized community and economic development initiative.
Health care is one of five targeted industries by Partnership Gwinnett to bring jobs and investment to the Greater Atlanta region.
“The Partnership Gwinnett research on our healthcare industry showed that we had significant potential for growth in this market,” commented Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charles Bannister. “Kaiser Permanente’s expansion is a strong testament to our focus on achieving that potential and cultivating a pro-business environment essential to sustainability and growth of healthcare businesses.”
Kaiser Permanente owns or leases more than one million square feet of building space in metro Atlanta.
