Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer
Carrie Harris-Muller to lead health plan service administration
ROCKVILLE, Md. – Carrie Harris-Muller was promoted to Chief Administrative Officer for Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States. Harris-Muller, a seasoned health care executive, brings over 16 years of experience to the position.
“Carrie’s accomplishments with health plan administration are impressive and have required her to combine creativity, analytics, strategic thinking, and team leadership,” reflects Marilyn Kawamura, President of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. “I am confident that her management style and results-oriented approach will continue improving delivery of quality health care and excellent service to our members while further enhancing support programs for our employees.”

In the chief administrative officer’s role, Harris-Muller will oversee strategic planning, human resources, and health plan service administration including provider contracting and relations, member services, membership administration, claims administration, data management, and employer client services.
Harris-Muller joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001 as vice president, provider contracting and relations and most recently served as vice president, health plan service and administration. Prior to Kaiser Permanente, she worked with several prominent health care organizations including SelectCare, CIGNA HealthCare, and the Henry Ford Health System.
With a bachelor’s degree from Madonna College, an MBA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a Master’s in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University, Harris-Muller complements her education and experience with memberships in several professional societies. In addition, she is a certified Health Insurance Executive through the American Association of Insurance Plans and a part-time professor in healthcare leadership for the U.S. Department of Defense.
