We have an “Excellent” accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
- In 2010, Kaiser Permanente Colorado awarded nearly $4 million in grants supporting services and organizations expected to reach more than 300,000 people through more than 70 different organizations. More than $850,000 was awarded specifically to organizations in Southern Colorado in 2010.
- Some past recipients of Kaiser Permanente grants and sponsorships are United Way, S.E.T. of Colorado Springs, American Diabetes Association, Empty Stocking Fund, American Heart Association, Community Health Partnership, Peak Vista Community Health Center, Ecumenical Social Ministries, Mission Medical Clinic, Komen Race for the Cure, UCCS' Beth-El School of Nursing, The Urban League, Center for Nonprofit Excellence, the March of Dimes and more. - Staff members are involved with organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, American Diabetes Association, Marion House Soup Kitchen, Junior Achievement, Goodwill Industries, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Heart Association, S.E.T. of Colorado Springs, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Live Well Colorado Springs, the YMCA, American Cancer Society, Red Cross and more.
- In addition to two Kaiser Permanente medical offices, we contract with over 800 providers in Colorado Springs, Pueblo and surrounding communities in Southern Colorado. Southern Colorado members are also able to access care and services at any Kaiser Permanente medical office in the Denver/Boulder service area.
- We contract with the Memorial Hospital System and Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, Parkview Medical Center and St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo, and St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City for inpatient services for members. - In Southern Colorado, we provide care through a collaborative model system of health care rather than Kaiser Permanente’s traditional group model.
- Our website, kaiserpermanente.org has specific information about Kaiser Permanente in the Southern Colorado area, including listings of affiliated specialists, health education classes, the Member Resource Guide, online health enhancement programs, access to personal health coaches through Healthy Solutions, and other features.
- Kaiser Permanente was founded by industrialist Henry J. Kaiser and Sidney Garfield, MD. The pair demonstrated the viability of prepaid group practice health care on projects such as the Los Angeles Aqueduct, the Grand Coulee Dam, and the construction of Liberty Ships during World War II.
- Kaiser Permanente was opened to community enrollment in 1945.
- Kaiser Permanente expanded to Colorado in 1969 at the request of labor union leaders who wanted quality, affordable health care for their members.
- Bill Reimers, MD, who had heard about the success of Kaiser Permanente in California, was instrumental in convincing the organization’s leaders to expand to the state and was the Colorado region's first medical director.

Colorado Permanente Medical Group (CPMG)
Colorado Permanente Medical Group contracts with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., to form Kaiser Permanente, Colorado’s oldest and largest group-practice health care organization.
