12/11/08 From Windshields to Waiting Rooms – Kaiser Permanente's Role in PVC-Free Carpeting
Kaiser Permanente and a carpet manufacturer joined to create a greener carpet option for use in medical centers. The PVC-free carpet uses instead polyvinyl butyral, the recycled film residue from automotive safety glass. The result is a recycled carpet that meets requirements for health care settings but is also better for the environment.

7/17/08 Kaiser Permanente Opens New Medical Offices in Diamond Bar
The eco-friendly design and construction of the new building demonstrates Kaiser Permanente's commitment to the environment and to the community. Some green features include the white-colored roof which absorbs less heat, thereby reducing the need for interior cooling; dual-pane glazing on all exterior windows contributes to energy efficiency, creating less need for heating or cooling; flooring that consists of non-PVC backed carpet as well as rubber flooring that includes recycled material and requires no compounds or cleaners for daily maintenance.

Kaiser Permanente's Watts Counseling and Learning Center will present a $10,000 check on Saturday, July 19, to the Watts Healthy Farmers' Market at its one-year anniversary celebration. The market will feature ten produce vendors; basic health screenings; children’s immunizations; health and nutrition information; children’s activities; free shade trees; live entertainment; and free carrot cake for the vendors and their customers.

The award, which recognizes health systems that have worked to gather environmental data, set goals, and encourage eco-friendly practices, reflects Kaiser Permanente's long-standing commitment to protecting the environment.
5/14/08 Kaiser Permanente Orange County Opens New Hospital in Irvine
Kaiser Permanente Orange County-Irvine Medical Center is opening it doors at 10 a.m. today, making it the first new hospital to be built in the Irvine area in more than a decade. The $254 million hospital is based on a new "template" design that represents the next generation of Kaiser Permanente facilities. Its design allows for enhanced flexibility to accommodate changing practices and technologies, such as the addition of "green" features to the building

Celebrating 50 years of serving the health care needs of the people of Hawaii, Kaiser Permanente Hawaii commemorated the opening of a new wing at its Moanalua Medical Center with a blessing and tours of the new facility. The wing has been designed with green technology, reducing environmental impact through recycling and sustainable architecture and landscaping.
3/22/08 Pasadena Families Spring Into Action at Memorial Park
Spring was in the air today at Pasadena's Memorial Park (85 East Holly Street), as families celebrated the grand opening of a new children's playground area and exercise course funded by a grant from Kaiser Permanente to serve the health and recreational needs of Pasadena residents. City of Pasadena Public Works Department crew installed and will maintain the equipment.
