11/20/08 Kaiser Permanente Receives the Most Stars in California Office of Patient Advocate's Annual Quality Report Card
Kaiser Permanente is the only health plan in California to earn excellent, four-star ratings in the 2009 Edition Healthcare Quality Report Card from the California Office of the Patient Advocate.
11/10/08 Kaiser Permanente Wins eValue8 Health Plan Innovation Award for Childhood Obesity Prevention Program
Kaiser Permanente Southern California's KP KIDS (Kids In Dynamic Shape) program was honored by the National Coalition of Business on Health with one of its eValue8 Awards, which identify and recognize the innovative and creative work of providers developing and implementing programs that address critical health care issues. KP KIDS is an in-depth assessment process designed for the special needs and challenges of children with weight problems. Its goal is not only educating overweight children and their families in healthy lifestyle behaviors but also to provide tools in preventing pediatric obesity.
11/5/08 Kaiser Permanente Honored For Success in Diabetes and Heart Disease Prevention
The California Department of Managed Health Care honored Kaiser Permanente with its inaugural "Director's Right Care Initiative Award" for Kaiser Permanente's outstanding work in diabetes and heart disease prevention. The award is part of the DMHC's Right Care Initiative, which examines managed care and the quality of service provided to California's citizens.
10/25/08 Kaiser Permanente Receives 2008 GLMA Achievement Award
The Gay and Lesbian Medical Association presented Kaiser Permanente with its annual Achievement Award for the organization's dedication to training health care professionals to provide quality and compassionate care. GLMA noted Kaiser Permanente's "Provider's Handbook on Culturally Competent Care for LGBT Patients" as an example of that dedication. Kaiser Permanente received the award at the GLMA's annual awards event.
10/15/08 Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange Honors Kaiser Permanente
WEDI, a consortium promoting electronic commerce in health care, honored Kaiser Permanente with the WEDI Corporate Leadership Award. James Ferguson, Kaiser Permanente's director of Information Technology strategy and policy, was honored with the WEDI Leadership in Technology Award. For more, see WEDI's Web site.
9/3/08 Human Rights Campaign Foundation Recognizes Kaiser Permanente with Perfect Score for Treatment of LGBT Employees
For the fourth consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente received a perfect 100 percent score from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for Kaiser Permanente's treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees. Kaiser Permanente is among 259 companies and organizations in the United States to receive a perfect score from the HRCF. Only 195 companies and organizations were so honored in 2007.

8/1/08 American Stroke Association Recognizes Five Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers The American Stroke Association, which is part of the American Heart Association, gave “Get With the Guidelines” recognition to the facilities for their work improving quality of care for heart disease and stroke patients. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and Sacramento/Roseville Medical Centers received the American Stroke Association's “Gold” performance achievement awards. Kaiser Permanente facilities in San Jose and Redwood City, Calif., and Honolulu, Hawaii, received the American Stroke Association's “Silver” performance achievement awards.
6/18/08 Kaiser Permanente Ohio Snags Two 'Best in Class' Awards for Diversity Efforts
KP Ohio's efforts in this area were recognized with two 'Best in Class' awards—one for board diversity and one for supplier diversity.
6/5/08 Kaiser Permanente Recognized for Non-Discrimination Policies for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Americans
Thirty-one Kaiser Permanente hospitals were among 88 nationwide that received top marks for health care and non-discrimination policies of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans in the Healthcare Equality Index report. The HEI report is issued by the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender civil rights organization.
5/29/08 Kaiser Permanente Honored for Improving Cancer Care Through Clinical Research
The American Society of Clinical Oncology honored the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Oncology Research Program as one of only 10 community oncology practices in the United States for clinical trials research that has improved the care of people with cancer.
5/23/08 J.D. Power Ranks Kaiser Permanente Highest in Member Satisfaction in California, Colorado, Georgia
The J.D. Power and Associates National Health Insurance Plan Study ranked Kaiser Permanente highest in member satisfaction in California, Colorado, and the South Atlantic Region (Georgia). J.D. Power and Associates in a global marketing information services firm operating in key business sections including market research, forecasting, performance improvement, training and customer satisfaction. Just in time for Mother's Day, Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Northern California regions were honored this week by the California Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) for leadership in helping new moms learn how to breastfeed and successfully continue nursing their babies once they get home.
