Shopping, Cooking and Snacking: Kaiser Permanente Dietitian Shares Healthy Tips for Families

Why is it a good idea to shop the outer aisles of a grocery store? How can busy families find time to cook and eat together? Can snacking be healthy?

Find answers to these questions and many more in these three short videos, produced by Kaiser Permanente and Discovery Health.

Created for busy parents striving to provide healthy meals for their families, these three videos offer practical tips for shopping, cooking and preparing snacks. The brief segments feature Nora Norback, a Kaiser Permanente registered dietitian, who provides a clear roadmap for families often distracted by homework and full-time jobs, while at the same time lured by the convenience of fast food.

The videos, produced by Kaiser Permanente’s Care Management Institute, provide tips and reminders about:

  • Making smart choices in the grocery store
  • Preparing nutritionally balanced meals quickly
  • Making healthy snacks kids will enjoy
  • Controlling portion size
  • Adding variety to meals
  • Having healthy staples on hand
  • Saving money
