Kaiser Permanente Volunteers Return to Gulf Coast to Help Rebuild Communities
Two groups of 30 Kaiser Permanente physicians and employees are returning to Louisiana and Mississippi this month to help residents rebuild homes and other facilities on the Gulf Coast. Hundreds of employees and physicians applied to be chosen for the projects; each volunteered his or her own vacation time to participate.
The Gulf Coast Volunteer Project is part of Kaiser Permanente’s long-term pledge to help the people of the Gulf Coast recover and rebuild after the devastating hurricanes of 2005. Through May 30, employees and physicians will volunteer at week-long service projects in New Orleans and in Biloxi, Miss.
This is the third year that Kaiser Permanente has partnered with HandsOn New Orleans and HandsOn Gulf Coast to lead these service projects.
You can follow the volunteers’ efforts through this section of the Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Web site. The site will be updated frequently through May 31 with new content.
