Kaiser Permanente’s 2011 Annual Report Now Available Online
Kaiser Permanente’s 2011 annual report, “Together in Total Health,” is now available online and for download at kp.org/annualreport.
The report provides a snapshot of Kaiser Permanente’s strategies and successes in 2011, in which we empowered the total health of our 9 million members, invested more than $1.8 billion in our communities, and led the nation in quality measures and in member and customer satisfaction.
The report also highlights how Kaiser Permanente’s integrated system uniquely powers our ability to conduct research and improve health outcomes, meet the needs of our diverse and growing membership, and work together to deliver excellent care.
The theme “Together in Total Health” celebrates our collaboration within the organization, and with our members, patients, and communities, in our commitment to improve health. In addition to stories from throughout the organization and videos of members of our care teams, the site also includes videos of our members sharing their own stories.

Among the successes highlighted in the report:
- In 2011, all eight Kaiser Permanente regions ranked in the top 100 commercial health plans and seven of our regions are in the top 20 Medicare health plans in the country as reported by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. In addition, our California, Northwest, Hawaii, and Colorado regions received the highest possible Medicare Star Quality Ratings of five stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
- Kaiser Permanente continues to lead the way in the future of health care. In 2011, we opened the Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health in Washington, D.C., a place for innovators, leaders, influencers, thinkers, and believers in wellness to talk about health. An interactive learning destination for the public, thought leaders, and the health sector, the center demonstrates what Kaiser Permanente and others are doing to advance health and care delivery in the United States.
- Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect® is the largest civilian electronic health record system, and we're proud to continue leading the nation in implementing electronic health records. In 2011, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society honored Kaiser Permanente with the Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence in Health IT, recognizing both outstanding implementation and value from IT in a health care setting.
- More than 3.8 million Kaiser Permanente members were signed up in 2011 to use My Health Manager on kaiserpermanente.org. My Health Manager provides access and convenience for members through the ability to securely email their doctors, schedule routine appointments, view most lab test results online, and other features.
To conserve paper and resources, and in alignment with Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to sustainable practices, the At-A-Glance printed version will be available in limited quantities and available for download. The complete report is available online and includes videos and success stories of our members, employees, physicians, and communities.
