Kaiser Permanente Colorado Names Jandel Allen-Davis, MD, Associate Medical Director of External Relations

DENVER – Kaiser Permanente has named a new associate medical director to lead the Colorado region’s External Relations program. Jandel Allen-Davis, MD, brings more than 16 years of leadership experience to Kaiser Permanente, including 12 years as a member of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group(CPMG), during which time she was selected as physician in charge of the Wheat Ridge Medical Offices and chair of the CPMG Board of Directors. In addition to managing a busy obstetrics and gynecology practice, Dr. Allen-Davis serves on the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners and the Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Allen-Davis has played a prominent role in pushing the health plan’s patient safety agenda forward, by serving as a fellow of the American Hospital Association’s National Patient Safety Leadership program, co-chair of ESJH Patient Safety Council, and medical director of the Kaiser Permanente Colorado Patient Safety Department. Dr. Allen-Davis assumes her post as assoiate medical director in October 2006. She will maintain a limited clinical practice.

As associate medical director of external relations, Dr. Allen-Davis will be charged with helping the community to better understand the value and ethics of Kaiser Permanente care. Specifically, she will be responsible for strategy and support of sales, media relations, legislative/governmental relations, employer and community group relations, nursing program development, and community benefit programs.

Dr. Allen-Davis received her undergraduate degree and medical degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Upon completion of her residency program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, she joined the Indian Health Service in Tuba City, Arizona. Dr. Allen-Davis moved to Colorado in 1992 when she became an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Allen-Davis, a mother of two, is an avid community speaker, often invited to address women’s health and diversity issues. In Denver, she volunteers with mentoring programs for youth interested in careers in the health sciences, serving special roles as the Keynote Speaker for the “Shades of Genius” mentoring program and as a workshop leader for the “Expanding Your Horizons” program at the University of Colorado. She recently completed the Leadership Denver Program sponsored by the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce. In her free time, Dr. Allen-Davis enjoys silk design and painting and has received numerous honors for her art work.

Dr. Allen-Davis replaces William Wright, MD, who is now Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s associate medical director of Market and Networks.
