Kaiser Permanente to Open First Medical Office in Pueblo
New Pueblo North Medical Offices will increase access to affordable, quality care in the Pueblo area
Kaiser Permanente Colorado has signed a lease with Parkview Medical Center to house a new medical office in the ParkWest Medical Complex at 3670 Parker Boulevard in Pueblo. The new Kaiser Permanente Pueblo North Medical Offices will be the health plan’s first medical office in the area and will occupy just under 15,000 square feet. It is slated to open in October 2009 and will be home to three Kaiser Permanente primary care physicians.
When open this fall, the Kaiser Permanente Pueblo North Medical Offices will offer primary care, a complete pharmacy, as well as basic lab and x-ray services for Kaiser Permanente members. In addition to state-of-the-art medical services, this comprehensive health care destination will offer health and wellness programs, education forums, and clinically-oriented care management services.
In a unique collaborative model for Kaiser Permanente, the new Pueblo North Medical Offices will operate alongside the many physicians from Pueblo and Fremont counties that Kaiser Permanente has successfully partnered with over the past four years. Members will be able to access all the services at the new medical office, regardless of whether they see a network community physician or a Permanente Medical Group physician.
Rick Spurlock, MD, Kaiser Permanente's Southern Colorado medical director says, "We are proud to introduce our new medical office and the Colorado Permanente Medical Group to the Pueblo area. The many successful programs and services associated with Permanente medicine across the country will be the focus of our physicians here as well. We’re excited to continue to work with the many community physicians from Pueblo and Fremont counties, providing additional choice and access for members. Our new medical office, our health and wellness programs, and offering group health insurance to employers in the area and a Medicare advantage product to seniors, are all part of our dedication to serving this community."
"We are excited about having the Kaiser Permanente team of professionals in Pueblo at the ParkWest Medical Complex. Having Kaiser Permanente bring additional primary care resources to our market will benefit all the citizens of this region," says Mike Baxter, CEO of Parkview Medical Center.
In January 2009, Kaiser Permanente began offering Senior Advantage Medicare plans to Pueblo and Fremont counties. Additionally, Kaiser Permanente commercial health insurance plans will be available to employers in the Pueblo, Cañon City and surrounding areas on July 1, 2009.
More about Kaiser Permanente's Southern Colorado Expansion

Unique to the Southern Colorado market, Kaiser Permanente members will enjoy access to an expansive network of community-based physicians as well as the benefits of a Kaiser Permanente medical office designed specifically for our seniors and staffed by Kaiser Permanente primary care physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.
