Kaiser Permanente Colorado Names Keith J. Evans Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Business Development
DENVER — Keith J. Evans, who helped western insurers and businesses navigate turbulent health care waters for the last eight years, will join Kaiser Permanente as the Colorado Region’s vice president of marketing, sales and business development. He assumes sales leadership at a time when Kaiser Permanente continues medical office construction and territory expansion along the Front Range.

Evans was an executive with Wellpoint for seven years, most recently as vice president and general manager of its Western Region, which included Anthem Blues subsidiaries in Colorado, California and Nevada. Under his leadership, Anthem launched a preferred provider organization product in Colorado and Nevada, increased customer retention in 14 states, and developed a sales structure that increased productivity. After leaving Wellpoint in 2009, Evans opened his own consulting practice.
“In this uncertain market, Keith’s experience will be invaluable to large and small employers,” said Donna Lynne, DrPH, president of Kaiser Permanente Colorado. “He shares my commitment to expanding affordable, high-quality health care to as many Coloradans as we can. The team we have in our marketing and sales department is strong and should position us for more success.”
“There are a lot of tough decisions ahead for employers and individual purchasers,” Evans said. “Buyers need to know they are getting the best health care possible. I am thrilled to be selling one of the nation’s highest quality health plans and at a competitive price.”
Kaiser Permanente Colorado is the highest ranked health plan in the state, as reported this month by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The Kaiser Permanente Colorado Region is ranked ninth nationally among over 220 commercial plans and second nationally among Medicare plans.
As Kaiser Permanente Colorado’s vice president of marketing, sales and business development, Evans will oversee a team that analyzes the Colorado marketplace, develops products to meet customer needs, supports employers in providing quality health care coverage, and helps the state’s brokers meet their customers’ needs. Kaiser Permanente Colorado insures and cares for more than 521,000 people from Boulder to Pueblo. Its membership grew five percent in 2010 and it is building five new medical offices over the next three years.
Evans earned a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s University and a master’s in business administration degree, with concentrations in finance and marketing from Columbia Business School. He spent the early part of his career at Arthur Andersen and General Motors. For 10 years, he was a leader with Aramark Uniform Services, eventually becoming controller for the Western Region.
