In addition, “NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2011–2012” lists Kaiser Permanente Colorado as the No. 3 Medicare plan in U.S. This is the third year in a row Kaiser Permanente has been among the top three Medicare Plans in the nation.

“NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2011–2012” appears online at www.ncqa.org.

The rankings are based on quality data collected, analyzed and converted to scores by the NCQA. The three reporting categories include consumer satisfaction, prevention and treatment.

“These rankings demonstrate how a coordinated approach to delivering care supported by an electronic medical record can result in superior outcomes for patients,” said Michael Chase, MD, associate medical director of Quality for Kaiser Permanente Colorado. “Being recognized as one of the nation’s top health plans is ultimately about our physicians, nurses and staff providing our members with outstanding care and service.“

Kaiser Permanente serves more than 533,000 members in Colorado. Care for members and patients is focused on their total health and guided by their personal physicians, specialists and team of caregivers. Expert and caring medical teams are empowered and supported by industry-leading technology advances and tools for health promotion, disease prevention, state-of-the art care delivery and world-class chronic disease management.

Kaiser Permanente member Barbara Svick underwent treatment and reconstructive surgery for breast cancer. She shared her thoughts on Kaiser Permanente’s quality of care. “Kaiser was so thorough about testing me. There were literally dozens of nurses, two radiologists, two surgeons, nurse educators…and they all worked really well together and that made me feel that, ‘Gee, this is going to be ok.’ I would rate the quality of my care an eleven on a scale of one to ten. I mean, it really was amazing. I just think the world of Kaiser as an organization,” Svick said.

Kaiser Permanente Colorado has been recognized by NCQA as a Patient Centered Medical Home. Nearly 300 primary care physicians and 16 medical offices earned the top-level recognition, making Kaiser Permanente Colorado one of the largest medical providers in the nation to receive the designation. In addition, 110 Kaiser Permanente Colorado physicians have recently been recognized by the NCQA for excellence in care for patients with diabetes.
