Kaiser Permanente Leads Colorado Health Plans in Member Satisfaction
Kaiser Permanente Receives Highest Regional Ranking in J.D. Power and Associates Study for Fifth Straight Year
DENVER — Kaiser Permanente Colorado members have rated the organization’s health plan highest in member satisfaction in Colorado for a fifth consecutive year, according to a new study released today by J.D. Power and Associates.
J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Member Health Plan StudySM is based on the responses of 32,868 members in 141 health plans throughout the United States. Colorado is one of 17 market regions measured in the study. The ranking considers seven factors: coverage and benefits; provider choice; information and communication; claims processing; statements; customer service; and approval process.
“We are thrilled that our dual focus on achieving high levels of member satisfaction continues to be recognized by our members in Colorado,” said Donna Lynne, DrPH, president, Kaiser Permanente Colorado.
Kaiser Permanente achieved a score of 692 on a 1,000-point scale, 10 points higher than the average health plan score in Colorado. The organization performed particularly well in two key areas:
- Coverage and benefits
- Information and communications
Serving more than 535,000 members in Colorado, Kaiser Permanente offers a coordinated approach to delivering care, supported by an extensive system of electronic medical records. With easy-to-use, Web-based tools, members have the ability to email their doctor, schedule appointments, check test results and order prescription refills online.
The health plan was recognized as the highest-rated private health insurance plan in Colorado and No. 6 in the nation for quality and member satisfaction, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2011–2012.
