Kaiser Permanente Announces New Staff Physicians for Fort Collins Medical Office
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Kaiser Permanente Colorado, the state’s largest nonprofit health plan, has announced that four local physicians have joined its Fort Collins Medical Office, scheduled to open on Oct. 1, 2012.
Located at 2950 E. Harmony Road, the Fort Collins medical office will be open to all Kaiser Permanente members in the Northern Colorado service area. The facility will offer primary care (family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics), laboratory, pharmacy and radiology services.
With a unique integrated care delivery system in its medical offices, Kaiser Permanente makes it easy to connect to health care providers and services around the clock to stay healthy. The Fort Collins Medical Office will offer extended appointment hours — until 7 p.m. — and many same-day appointments in order to meet the needs of busy individuals and families. Through My Health Manager, Kaiser Permanente’s personal health record, Northern Colorado members will also be able to connect with their physician using secure email, renew prescriptions and make or change appointments online. More than 4 million Kaiser Permanente members nationwide are currently using this tool, including more than 230,000 members in Colorado.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to practice medicine in the community I grew up in,” said Michelle Glasgow, MD, family medicine physician, Kaiser Permanente Fort Collins. “The Fort Collins Kaiser Permanente Medical Office offers patients everything they need to manage their health at one place. This isn’t available anywhere else in our community. I believe Northern Colorado will be pleased with what Kaiser Permanente has to offer.”
“Kaiser Permanente physicians serve as providers and partners for our patients,” said Steve Sunderman, MD, internist, Kaiser Permanente Fort Collins. “Over the past 15 years, I’ve seen firsthand the impact this type of integrated care can have on the health and well-being of individuals and families. From diagnosing a patient, to responding to questions from a new mom via email, to leading health education programs, I’m excited to now help guide patients living in my own community every step of the way.”
In addition to the Fort Collins Medical Office, Kaiser Permanente’s Northern Colorado expansion plan includes a medical office opening in Loveland, also on Oct. 1; a medical office in Greeley opening in 2014; and a partnership agreement with Banner Health hospitals and physicians. This partnership is the first of its kind for Kaiser Permanente and will allow for the sharing and utilization of health information technology to better coordinate patient care. Members living in Northern Colorado will also have access to more than 400 community-based providers in the health plan’s preferred network.
Kaiser Permanente’s expansion to Northern Colorado is expected to bring approximately 100 jobs to the region.
