Kaiser Permanente Named a "Best Place to Work" by Atlanta Magazine
ATLANTA, Ga. – Kaiser Permanente of Georgia has been named the 10th "Best Place to Work" according to Atlanta magazine and will be featured among the city's best employers in the July 2008 issue of the publication.
Earlier this year, Atlanta magazine asked readers "do you love your job?" and solicited nominations for their first-ever "Best Place to Work" issue. More than 700 employees across Atlanta nominated their workplace to appear in this issue. Kaiser Permanente was selected as a nominee in February and employees and practitioners were invited to provide feedback about the benefits of working at Kaiser Permanente. A panel of judges evaluated nomination forms, employee feedback and company profiles to determine the city's top 40 employers.
The "Best Place to Work" issue is on newsstands now. Kaiser Permanente of Georgia staff featured in the article included Harold Witcoff, MD, and Alicia Booker.

#10: Kaiser Permanente
"It seems that encouraging people to "thrive" is more than an ad catchphrase for Kaiser Permanente; it's an integral part of what keeps employees satisfied at the Atlanta offices of this national not-for-profit healthcare organization. Employees have access to free health coaches to help them lose weight, quit smoking or manage other health challenges.
"We're always getting surveyed about how we feel about the company. There's a sense the information is being used to improve the work environment," notes Dr. Harold Witcoff, who has been with the company for seven years. In a field where erratic hours are the norm, Kaiser Permanente’s structured 8:30-5:30 schedule (at most of its health centers) is a welcome change, especially for parents. "People tend to stay a long time and get to know each other very well as they move to and from different departments," says Georgia regional receptionist Alicia Booker, who worked as a temp for two years before accepting a full-time position in January. Employees bond while participating in an eight-week "Get Active Atlanta" program, which culminates in a downtown 5K run/walk and picnic for employees from Kaiser Permanente and other local companies.
