Kaiser Permanente Celebrates the Grand Opening of its Newnan Medical Office
GEORGIA EXPANSION INITIATIVE
ATLANTA — On Thursday, Feb. 17, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will celebrate the grand opening of its Newnan Medical Office, the organization’s first location in Coweta County. The addition of the new 7,100-square-foot facility at 203 Newnan Crossing Bypass is part of Kaiser Permanente’s ongoing effort to make access to health care more convenient for its more than 240,000 members across metro Atlanta.
Kaiser Permanente invested $2.3 million in interior construction, furniture and medical and IT equipment for the Newnan Medical Office to create a unique total health environment that nurtures the mind, body and spirit in sickness and in health.
“This medical office will allow us to better serve our members in and around Newnan,” said Peter Andruszkiewicz, president of Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. “We look forward to continuing our legacy of providing high-quality, affordable health care to residents of this community for many years to come.”
Staffed by Belkis Pimentel, MD, and Mark Becknell, MD, of the Southeast Permanente Medical Group, the Newnan Medical Office offers internal medicine, pediatrics, radiology and lab services, as well as an on-site pharmacy. Additional specialties may be added.
“Quality health care for our citizens has always been a high priority for me, and I know that Kaiser Permanente will add to the growing community of first-class medical care that is in Newnan,” said Mayor Keith Brady.
As Georgia’s largest nonprofit health plan, Kaiser Permanente is committed to improving the health of its members and the communities it serves. In honor of the Newnan Medical Office grand opening, Kaiser Permanente is donating $5,000 to Community Welcome House, a refuge for victims of domestic violence in Newnan. The grant will support the “Up and Above” project, which provides medical and counseling services to Community Welcome House clients. “This allows us to continue to make a difference in the lives we touch,” said Linda Kirkpatrick, executive director.
Kaiser Permanente will also award a $5,000 grant to Coweta Samaritan Clinic to help cover the cost of prescription drugs for impoverished patients who are uninsured or underinsured.
With the addition of the Newnan Medical Office, Kaiser Permanente currently operates 26 medical facilities in its 28-county service area. Plans are underway to open a new medical office in Fayetteville in March. Since late 2009, nine new Kaiser Permanente locations have opened in metro Atlanta.
