Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Completes Expansion and Renovation of Maui Lani Pharmacy
WAILUKU, Maui, Hawaii — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii celebrates the completion of the expansion and renovation of its pharmacy at Maui Lani Clinic in Wailuku today with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony. The renovation added 1,000 square feet of space to the existing pharmacy, including doubling the amount of customer-service windows and a dedicated waiting area with additional seating inside the pharmacy. The renovation also included relocating the front entrance of the clinic closer to the patient drop-off area.
“The expansion of our pharmacy at our Maui Lani Clinic represents Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s commitment to continuously develop and deliver high quality health care services to our members and the community of Maui,” said Mary Hew, Maui clinic operations director, Kaiser Permanente. “Our larger pharmacy, with increased number of customer-service counters, nearly 70 percent more floor area, and the refreshing of the area, enhances service to our members and their overall experience.”
The expansion and renovation of Maui Lani pharmacy included:
- Adding 1,000 square feet to the existing pharmacy
- Increasing customer-service counters from five to 10
- Adding a dedicated waiting area
- New energy-efficient light fixtures
- New environmentally friendly flooring, including rubber flooring in work areas, increasing employee safety
The renovation of the clinic also included relocating the main entrance closer to the patient drop-off area, providing more convenient access for members and decreasing congestion at the entrance and main lobby.
Construction on the project started in June 2011, with work completed in two major phases to keep the pharmacy and clinic operational during the renovation. R. Hartman Architect and Arita Poulson General Contracting were principals on the project.
Clinic hours at Maui Lani, including the pharmacy, are:
- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
(Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day)
