Kaiser Permanente Physicians Raise $3,000 in Support of Nonprofits on the Big Island

Hawaii Permanente Medical Group’s annual golf tournament to benefit Healthy Eating, Active Living and charitable initiatives

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii — The Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, which provides care to all Kaiser Permanente members in Hawaii, today announced it raised $3,000 through its annual community golf tournament held last year at the Honolulu Country Club. Funds will support Healthy Eating, Active Living and charitable initiatives on the Big Island including:

Big Island
American Youth Soccer — Kona
Family Support Services of West Hawaii
Habitat for Humanity — West Hawaii
Hawaii Island Food Bank
Malaai Garden at Waimea Middle School
North Hawaii Hospice

“As physicians serving the Big Island community, we are pleased to support these local organizations that improve the health of our residents in many different ways,” said Kaiser Permanente’s Daryl Kurozawa, MD, general surgeon and associate medical director of the Neighbor Islands. “At Kaiser Permanente we believe that a healthy community supports the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of those who live, work and play there.”

Serving the Big Island since 1987, with the opening of its Kona clinic, Kaiser Permanente has since opened clinics in Hilo, Waimea and South Kona. Kaiser Permanente’s Mobile Health Vehicle, introduced to the Big Island community in the summer of 2009, also provides the community with the nation’s most technologically advanced medical vehicle on wheels, offering state-of-the-art digital mammography, basic exams and screening services, flu shots and pneumovax vaccines.
