Kaiser Permanente Names New Hawaii Regional Compliance Officer

Maria Borje-Bonkowski, JD
HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii announced that Maria Borje-Bonkowski, JD, has joined the state’s largest integrated health care organization as Hawaii’s regional compliance officer.
Borje-Bonkowski brings over 15 years of health care experience, 11 of which has been in regulatory affairs. Most recently, she was with Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Region, where she held a statewide role as director of Health Plan Regulatory Services, overseeing Kaiser Permanente’s business license in California. She managed regulatory filings for Kaiser Permanente’s Northern and Southern California regions and served as one of the primary contacts with the California regulator, the Department of Managed Health Care. Borje-Bonkowski earned her juris doctorate degree from the University of California Hastings College of Law in San Francisco and two bachelor degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.
In her new position as Hawaii’s Regional Compliance Officer, Borje-Bonkowski will develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive compliance program for the region. She will also be a member of the executive leadership team that is responsible for the ongoing refinement of strategies for an effective compliance, ethics and integrity, and privacy/security program.
