Kaiser Permanente Expands Access to Physician Care with the Addition of Six New Specialists

Specialists in Dermatology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and Neurosurgery join the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group

HONOLULU — Kaiser Permanente Hawaii today announced the addition of six new physicians, who join over 450 physicians and providers of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, the state’s largest multi-specialty medical group, providing comprehensive care to Kaiser Permanente’s 227,000-plus members.

The six physicians include:

Oahu

  • Matthew Chang, MD, Neurosurgery, Moanalua Medical Center

  • Vinay Parameswara, MD, Internal Medicine, Honolulu Clinic

  • Jay Viernes, MD, Dermatology, Honolulu Clinic

  • Joanne Zenker, MD, Dermatology, Wailuku Clinic and Mapunapuna Clinic

Maui



Matthew Chang, MD, earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, and completed his residency in neurosurgery at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurosurgery and is a member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons. He was most recently with the Riverside Medical Group in Newport News, Va. He is practicing at Kaiser Permanente’s Moanalua Medical Center.

Vinay Parameswara, MD, earned his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College in Bangalore, India, and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Amarillo, Texas. He is at Kaiser Permanente’s Honolulu clinic.

Jay Viernes, MD, earned his medical degree from Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in Bethesda, Md., and completed his residency in dermatology at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He most recently was a clinical dermatologist with US Dermatology of Hawaii in Kapolei. He is practicing at Kaiser Permanente’s Honolulu clinic.

Joanne Zenker, MD, earned her medical degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia and completed her residency in dermatology at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Penn. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and was most recently with the Lackawanna Valley Dermatology Associates in Scranton, Penn. She is practicing at both the Mapunapua clinic on Oahu and Wailuku clinic on Maui.

David Becerril, MD, earned his medical degree from University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, and completed his residency in family medicine at Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is at Kaiser Permanente’s Lahaina clinic.

Sally Daganzo, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco, and completed her residency in internal medicine at California Pacific Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is at the Maui Lani clinic in Wailuku.
