Kaiser Permanente Nationally Recognized in 2009 Aster Awards Program for Excellence in Medical Marketing
Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States received a Bronze recognition in this year’s competition
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States received a Bronze Aster Award in the category of “Total Advertising Campaign” in the group “HMO, PPO, Managed Care, Insurance.” Kaiser Permanente won the Bronze award for the marketing campaign it implemented for its Fredericksburg Medical Center grand opening that occurred this past January.
At the heart of the Fredericksburg campaign was the message, “Life and Health. Simplified.” Kaiser Permanente utilized direct mailings, radio and newspaper advertisements to convey how convenient the Fredericksburg medical center is because doctors, the pharmacy, and the laboratory are all located under one roof. The campaign also featured a website for local residents to visit so they could learn more about the medical center.
“We are honored to receive the Bronze Aster Award for our Fredericksburg Medical Center campaign. The Fredericksburg campaign exemplifies how informing local residents about electronic medical records and high, quality care can make an impact on membership,” said Marilyn Kawamura, president of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States region. “At Kaiser Permanente, we believe that effective communication is one of the foundations of our success."
The Aster Awards, one of the largest competitions of its kind, is hosted by Marketing Healthcare Today and Creative Images, Inc. This elite national program recognizes outstanding healthcare professionals for excellence in their advertising/marketing efforts. The 2009 Aster Awards consisted of approximately 3,000 entries from across America. Participants’ entries competed against similar-sized organizations in their category. Entries must score in the top 85 percent to receive an award.
“Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic States is among the top in the nation for healthcare advertising expertise…specifically scoring in the top 12 percent in the nation. It was an honor to have Kaiser participated in the 2009 Aster Awards,” said Melinda R. Lucas, Aster Awards Program Coordinator. “They exceeded the judges’ expectations.”
Entries in the Aster Awards were judged by a diverse panel of healthcare marketing experts. Judging criteria includes creativity, layout and design, functionality, message effectiveness, production quality, and overall appeal. All winners are posted on the Aster Awards’ website, as well as published in Marketing Healthcare Today, a national healthcare marketing magazine.
