Physicians from Kaiser Permanente are in and traveling to the areas of South Asia hard-hit by the tsunami on December 26, 2004

At 9:30am PST on January 11, 2005, Kaiser Permanente held a press conference to introduce the first two groups of doctors heading to Sri Lanka and Banda Aceh and to describe its plans to continue sending physicians to the area to help local groups care for survivors of the tsunami. Some physicians are assisting in public-health planning work as the malaria season begins; some are providing direct patient care to men, women and children struggling to recover.
