The Future of Health Care Comes to Vacaville
New Hospital Completes Vacaville Medical Center Campus
VACAVILLE, Calif. — 21st Century health care comes to Vacaville this fall when the final stage of the Vacaville Medical Center — the 340,000 square-foot, four-story hospital — opens its doors. The hospital will feature a 24-hour emergency department, 24-hour pharmacy, private rooms, and the latest technology, including Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, a powerful electronic medical record system. The projected opening date is Oct. 6.
The hospital features all private, spacious rooms with space for family members to stay overnight. The new building and two adjacent medical offices offer a wide range of services — from primary care to specialty care and diagnostic and hospital services — on one campus. The Vacaville hospital will open with emergency services, a critical care unit, medical-surgical services, and a full complement of diagnostic and support services.
“Our new Vacaville Hospital is truly the future of health care, and it’s right here, right now,” said Steven Stricker, MD, Physician-in-Chief, Napa Solano Area. “With one of the first and most distinguished physician group practices in the United States, coupled with one of the most modern and comfortable designs in health care facilities today, we are proud and thrilled to offer our members the quality and convenience they have come to expect from Kaiser Permanente.”
The hospital design features many windows to let in plenty of natural light, which is shown to promote healing. More than 35 colors adorn the walls, all selected to reflect the natural environment of Vacaville. The operating rooms are state of the art, and the nursing stations are designed to place nurses closer to their patients.
“Our new hospital is a beautiful addition to the communities where our members live and work,” said Rose Calhan, Area Manager for Kaiser Permanente Napa Solano. “We are committed to caring for these communities, and we are sure the new medical center reflects that pride and commitment.”
The hospital will open with KP HealthConnect, a powerful information system that drives electronic medical records and a set of secure online tools that empower people to make appointments, email their physicians, check test results and renew prescriptions, all from their home or office, at their convenience.
A community celebration will be held at the new facility on Oct. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature entertainment, refreshments, hospital tours, hands-on health demonstrations, and activities for children.
