The excursion in late April was part of National TV Turnoff Week, co-sponsored locally by Kaiser Permanente, which paid for each child to participate for free. A guide with Portland Parks & Recreation Environmental Education led the Portland-area youngsters and their adult companions on the Ladybug Walk. Similar walks to a variety of local natural areas will continue most Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 29. For more information, call 503-823-3601.
