Kaiser Permanente files letter of intent to build new hospital in Washington County
PORTLAND, Ore. – Kaiser Permanente has announced it intends to build a new hospital on a 15-acre site it owns in the Tanasbourne area of Washington County . The health care organization filed a letter with the State of Oregon ’s Department of Human Services on June 16 announcing its intention to build a 138-bed general medical and surgical hospital at 19400 NW Evergreen Parkway just south of Highway 26. A specialty medical care office is also envisioned on the land, which is currently home to a Kaiser Permanente primary care medical office and dental office. The hospital is expected to be completed in the latter half of 2009. Estimated cost for the project is $285 million. A more detailed certificate of need will be filed with state health officials later this summer.
Kaiser Permanente has one other hospital in Oregon – Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas. That hospital opened in 1975 and is licensed for 196 beds. Kaiser Sunnyside is slated to add about 200,000 square feet when a new patient wing opens in 2007.
