Kaiser Permanente’s New “Thrive” Ad Shot in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — For the first time, Kaiser Permanente’s popular and acclaimed “Thrive” advertising campaign will include a spot filmed in the Northwest. The spot is called “Tick” and features many locations that give it a distinctly Portland feel: running over the Steel Bridge, basketball at the Park Blocks, kayaking near Hood River.

“Tick” refers to the heartbeat-like rhythm on the soundtrack that runs throughout the ad, and that sound helps reinforce the Kaiser Permanente story: healthy hearts and bodies, high quality health care, including a robust electronic health record, and sustainability.

The physician in the ad is no actor: she practices medicine at Kaiser Permanente’s Tualatin medical office.

“Tick” will be aired in the Portland market beginning in November. Video copies of the spot are available. We can arrange interviews with the ad’s director (who also did all the shooting with a hand held camera) and the local physician.

Kaiser Permanente is America’s leading integrated health care organization. Founded in 1945, the organization serves the health needs of more than 8.6 million people nationwide. More than 470,000 people in Oregon and Southwest Washington receive their health care from Kaiser Permanente.
