Kaiser Permanente Presents Free Healthy Pregnancy and Parenting Symposium
PORTLAND, Ore. — We speak baby: Healthy pregnancy and parenting” is the title of the next free healthy living symposium from Kaiser Permanente Northwest. The public is invited to the event this Saturday, Aug. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Portland Community College Willow Creek campus, 241 SW Edgeway Drive, Beaverton.

The keynote presentation is titled “Seven tips for ensuring you have a healthy baby” and will be given by Suzanne Lubarsky, MD, a Kaiser Permanente perinatologist. Other presentations include “Eating for two: good nutrition during pregnancy” and “Nature’s way: the benefits of breastfeeding and going screen free.”
“The symposium is part of Kaiser Permanente’s efforts to build healthy communities, and thriving children and families are a big part of that,” said Susan Mullaney, administrator at Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center, a nationally recognized “Baby Friendly Hospital.” In 2013, Kaiser Permanente will open the new Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro, which will give the organization a second state-of-the-art labor and delivery center in the Metro area.
This is the third installment in Kaiser Permanente’s healthy living symposium series. The fourth, titled “Living successfully with diabetes,” will be held Oct. 29 at Clark College in Vancouver.
All symposiums include clinical consultations, educational resources and updates on the latest in medical research. A complimentary healthy breakfast will be provided.
