4th Grade City Kids Reveal Rare Holiday Gardening Project

Picture-Perfect Veggies Grown by Kids to Adorn Tournament of Roses Parade Float for Kaiser Permanente

WHAT:

Approximately 70 Bursch Elementary School 4th graders will show off fresh purple kale they grew to adorn Kaiser Permanente's 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade float. The veggies are ready for harvest in this beautiful vegetable garden, an oasis in the heart of Los Angeles.

Eager children will view the float's design for the first time to see precisely where their kale can be used to decorate. They will then present their vegetable plants to executives.

The plants will be closely inspected by Jim Hynd, Vice President of Floral for Fiesta Parade Floats in preparation for float decoration in the weeks to come.

At the same time, a healthy cooking class will be conducted on-site for children to learn delicious recipes to make with produce grown in the garden.
