Foster Elementary and Kaiser Permanente's "Amazing Food Detective" Join Forces in the Fight Against Childhood Obesity

WHAT:

The Amazing Food Detective is an interactive program designed to educate students about the importance of good nutrition and exercise. The theatrical performance teaches children to recognize the benefits of choosing fruits and vegetables as healthy snacks. Students, parents and teachers at Foster Elementary will participate in the live performance which is the first part of a five day program. Kaiser Permanente provides this program free of charge.

WHY:

Nearly 1 in 3 kids in the United States is either overweight or at risk for becoming overweight and more than 25 percent of children in the State of California are overweight. With obesity comes associated health risks, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.

Educational Theater professional actors stress the importance of eating only when you are hungry and not to judge others based on body shape and size.
