Pasadena Community Care Center Breaks New Ground to Care for More Patients
PASADENA, Calif. — Kaiser Permanente announced today that it is awarding a half million dollar grant to the Community Health Alliance of Pasadena to help fund the expansion of primary health care services at the Pasadena Community Care Center for residents of the San Gabriel Valley.
Kaiser Permanente Southern California will present a check for $500,000 to CHAP at the groundbreaking of the soon-to-be renovated and reconfigured center at 3160 East Del Mar, Pasadena, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3.
“Kaiser Permanente is deeply involved and committed to improving the health of communities throughout California by investing in community-based organizations like CHAP who are striving to expand access for preventative and primary care services to our vulnerable and uninsured populations,” said Diana Bontá, vice president of public affairs for Kaiser Permanente Southern California. Since 1996, Kaiser Permanente has contributed more than $1.3 million in grants to CHAP.
Also stepping forward to support the renovation and expansion of the Center’s services are: Huntington Memorial Hospital, Huntington Medical Foundation, LA Care Health Plan, and the City of Pasadena.
The 10,020 square-foot facility is scheduled to be open to the public in late summer 2010. Patients will receive high-quality primary and urgent care, including but not limited to diagnosis, screening and treatment for acute and chronic disease, health education, prenatal and well-baby care, family-planning services, and prompt treatment of urgent but not life-threatening injury and illness.
The center will include 11 primary-care and 11 urgent-care exam rooms, along with a blood-draw station, physician and staff offices, nurses’ stations, a dispensary, patient registration, waiting areas, and administrative space.
