13-year-old Oscar Barrera remembers being at a pool party with his mom and older brother. Barrera was playing with a ball and in a matter of seconds that ball ended up in the pool and so did he. “It was scary because I didn’t know how to swim. My brother tried to help me but he didn’t know how to swim either,” said Barrera who was six years old at the time. “My mom came running and pulled me out by the hair. She also did not know how to swim.”
