Disasters, Storms Serve as Reminder of Need for Electronic Health Records
Kaiser Permanente strongly encourages its members to sign on to the new kp.org and become familiar with the online tools that can not only make regular care more convenient, but potentially make a major difference in the event of a natural disaster.
Just last fall, countless Kaiser Permanente members in Southern California were able to easily receive care because Kaiser Permanente doctors using KP HealthConnect™ were able to access members’ medical histories, current prescriptions, lab results, and other important data.
Contrast that with the situation three years ago, when most of the 1 million people displaced by Hurricane Katrina had little or no way to provide critical health information to caregivers.
