Ten Kaiser Permanente Hospitals Now Complete with KP HealthConnect™ Electronic Health Records

Ten Kaiser Permanente hospitals have completed inpatient deployments of Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect™, the organization's electronic health record and the world's largest civilian electronic health record.

More than 2.4 million Kaiser Permanente members now have access to their comprehensive health information in any medical setting, be it an exam room or an emergency room. Fourteen more Kaiser Permanente hospitals are expected to deploy KP HealthConnect™ for inpatient use this year.

The hospitals that completed inpatient implementations, including computerized physician order entry and bedside clinical documentation, are: Antioch, Baldwin Park, Bellflower, Orange County, Santa Rosa, San Diego, South Bay, South Sacramento, Walnut Creek and West Los Angeles.

The deployment also marks the largest such hospital launch of an electronic health record for Epic Systems, the Wisconsin-based vendor Kaiser Permanente contracts with to build and implement KP HealthConnect™.

Before the inpatient deployment, all Kaiser Permanente members were already routinely treated with an electronic chart in the outpatient setting, and all of Kaiser Permanente's 8.7 million members have access to My Health Manager – KP's personal health record – where they have 24/7 online access to lab test results, eligibility and benefits information, and even their children's immunization records.
